The Legend of an Outback Lawman

we talk about The Legend of an Outback Lawman...

A reading guide (and possibly a love letter) to one of Elsie Creek’s heroes who never had his own book—until now, as we talk about The Legend of an Outback Lawman…

Who is he?

Senior Constable Porter.  An outback cop that’s been in three (yes, three) book series, starting with mentions in the Elsie Creek Series—like in Diamond in the Dust and Xmas Dust. But it wasn’t until later that he began nudging his way onto the page as a regular side character known as Policeman Porter.

We finally got to know him in Written in Dust, where he did something that put others in danger.

Yeah, that moment.

(If you’ve read the book, you’ll know.)

Then in Doctoring Dust, he began to take real responsibility for his actions.

By the time we hit Buffalo Dust, Porter truly started to shine, especially when he’s being brutally blunt with his best friend and the ballgown-wearing grandmother.

THEN THIS OUTBACK LAWMAN SHOWS UP IN THE STOCKMEN SERIES:

Sometimes you just can’t keep a good guy down, and Policeman Porter makes his presence known, quietly and unassuming enough to win the hearts of many readers, proving he wasn’t just background noise:

🏢 And now this Outback Lawman is in The Stock Squad

With the Stock Squad based inside the Elsie Creek Police Station, it only made sense to bring the full crew back:

  • Marcus, the OIC and Town’s Top Cop.

  • Tanisha, the cactus-loving, cocktail-mixing, TikTok-obsessed front desk queen with fingernails that dazzle.

  • And Porter. Just Policeman Porter. For some reason… He’s been quietly patrolling this world since the beginning—turning up when needed, holding the line, and never asking for the spotlight.

Now Policeman Porter finally has his own book…

He’s not the loudest. He’s not the flashiest.

But he’s the one who’s always shown up—loyal, capable, quietly carrying more than he lets on.

He’s messed up in the past, learned to make it right, and kept going.

He’s the bloke who knows the outback’s backroads better than anyone.

He’s the type of guy who helps without being asked, rescues animals as part of his day job patrolling the vast outback. And he’s the hero who’s been protecting Elsie Creek long before anyone noticed.

But now?

He finds himself involved in a case that tests him—and the one woman who might finally see him for who he really is…
