With the latest release to the best-selling outback series, here are 6 fun things you’ll find in this rural romance, ROLLED IN DUST, that I’m sure you’ll enjoy and relate to.
1- New neighbours always seem to end up with nicknames.
As neighbours are a big topic in ROLLED IN DUST, we all know that feeling when we get new neighbours, asking the same questions, like:
Who are they?
Where did they come from?
What do they do?
And why did they move to the middle of the outback, to this teeny tiny town of Elsie Creek?
As part of my research, I asked others how they felt about having new neighbours, and the nicknames people gave them. It was an absolute hoot!
Check it out and see if any nicknames fit with your neighbours…
2- Bad Boys are Labelled for life!
Rolling on from talking about neighbours, we slide deeper into some small-town gossip that spreads like wildfire when the bad boy of Elsie Creek returns.
It’s a scene set in the local supermarket, where you’re included in the story!
3- Father and son in-house family moments
Every family has some trait, habit, or tradition they share, including those in-house jokes that only family members would understand.
In ROLLED IN DUST, Connor (the super-luscious hero) and his father had a few moments that made me smile. They shared a love of beer, simple speech, but shared the father and son tradition of the outback Spiders! Go on, your taste buds deserve this treat…
4- Billabong Bunyips are the real deal!
Australia is home to the cutest of creatures, yet some very unusual monsters. None is greater than Elsie Creek’s legendary Billabong Bunyip mentioned throughout the Elsie Creek Series.
Man-eating crocodiles are kittens compared to this ferocious Dreamtime legend that is finally revealed in all its gory in ROLLED IN DUST.
This is what we unearthed for those who dare…
5- Which skate rolls in the dust!
The title for ROLLED IN DUST came from a few factors. One of them is due to the cutest little character, Billie the Kid, who is in love with her roller skates. So, I had to work out what was the best type of roller skate for red dust – turns out roller blades are useless.
Check this fun blog, where I’m pretty sure a pair of skates might end up on your shopping list this Christmas.
6- Mother’s Day is different for us all
Having lost my mother earlier this year, I really wanted to capture the essence of Mother’s Day and how it’s different for everyone. There’s the way mothers receive the assorted gifts that change over the years. Remember those pre-schoolers handmade treats, like the cup that never holds water? To the grown-up’s child’s gift of flowers or card bought from the store. Which one would you have preferred?
In ROLLED IN DUST, there’s a special Mother’s Day event that I hope brings fond memories of those Motherly moments that we all can relate to in this story by grabbing your copy from your favourite online bookstore today.
