I wanted to find how far a story travelled and so, I turned the tables and interviewed one of my readers.
Living so far north in Australia, and with no bookshop nearby, it’s all online for me. But through the online world, I’ve had the fabulous honour of meeting some amazing avid book lovers.
Today, have I got a treat for you because I’d like to introduce you to the fabulous Helen.
And it’s a ‘Hello from Helen Sibbritt’
Helen Sibbritt is an amazingly happy reader from Sydney, and if she was ever stranded in the outback near a billabong, she’d had chocolate, her kindle and her camera. Love it!
And you’ll love what she has to share with us, especially the last point. *sighs
Why do you read Rural Fiction?
I have always loved the thought of living in a small country town.
It is a dream I have had since I was a young girl in primary school. I love animals. My grandparents had a small hobby farm on the central coast of NSW and we spent a lot of time there on holidays with the cows and a pig. Growing veggies, Nanna was always trying to get her wisteria to grow over the fence at the front. The closeness of a small community and the love and caring (as well as the gossip) they share.
Do you have a favourite reading place?
My recliner in the family room and in bed.
I have the radio on while reading most of the time so whatever is playing, I am listening to as well.
But I do take my kindle or earphones to listen to a book on my phone everywhere I go.
Describe your perfect reading date?
Home alone, so there are no disturbances. A book that is going to carry me away to a place I have not been, with a hero and heroine who have a meaningful and sensual journey to that HEA that will leave me feeling very happy. 🙂
If you could invite 6 people, past or present, to your lavish reading party (above) who would it be?
Firstly, my Mum. She was a big reader and we shared many books and even now I am sure she is reading over my shoulder with me. And my Mum’s two sisters. The four of us had many a discussion about romance books. My friends Barbara and Lyn who are also big readers, my youngest sister who loves historical romance.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes, I do. My husband took hold of my hand when I was 15 and he was 17, coming home from ice-skating and I knew we would marry one day. Our 43rd anniversary is this April, lots of ups and downs but still together.
Aaand that’s a wrap!
Have a fabulous wedding anniversary Helen.
