DATE IDEA – Make your own amazingly romantic Love Jar

Connect with your loved one by making your own amazingly Romantic Love Jar as the ultimate date idea! It doesn’t cost much, but you’ll soon discover how priceless this is for your love life.

What’s so romantic about a jar?

It’s like a gratitude jar but it’s full of all those feel-good things you love about each other as a couple.

Think of it like writing a message in a bottle and setting it out at sea, except you’ll be using a jar and placing it somewhere handy, which I’ll explain why shortly.

But what this Romantic Love Jar does is continuously reaffirms your love for each other while strengthening your relationship on a regular basis, giving you that perfect reason to smile.

Ready to do this…

What you’ll need for your Romantic Love Jar:

A jar with a lid

A jar of any sort will do. You can decorate it or buy a special jar with a lid, but be sure it’s big enough to put your hand inside to swirl the paper around like a lucky dip.

Paper

You can go pretty and cut up all sorts of coloured paper.

But you will need two separate paper colours. One paper colour for you and the other paper colour for your partner. (I’m Australian, and that’s how we spell colour, in case you’re wondering.)

You can cut your pieces of paper into strips or create heart shapes for a theme.

Or just use the simple sticky notes.

Pens

Crayons, markers, or a set of crazy glitter pens to write on the paper. Go big. Go bold, I say.

Filling feel-good memories into your Romantic Love Jar

There are thousands of ways to fill this jar, but as a start, you and your partner are to write on a blank piece of paper, remember one colour for you, and one colour for your partner, then answer the following questions:

Your favourite memory of your partner is…

The first time you met, what caught your eye?

The funniest moment you shared as a couple.

Favourite Romantic holiday.

Your most trying holiday.

The worst date shared – that you can laugh about now.

Worst moments where you both pulled together as a couple and where it made your relationship stronger for it.

What they did/ do that makes you laugh.

That moment you knew you’d fallen in love with them.

What do you love about each other?

Most of all, what do you love about being together as a couple.

Think of the little things that matter to you that your partner does without thought – this is showing gratitude in more ways than one.

Make a date to create your Romantic Love Jar

If you’ve gathered the simple items from around the house, you can make a date of it, by adding it to the Date Crate that is the perfect accompaniment for a sunset date, or for hiding at home before the fire while it’s pouring with romantic rain outside.

What you do on your Romantic Love Jar Date is:

Answer the questions listed below by Saying it out loud what you love about each other.

Write it down

Fold it up

Then put it into the jar for those days you grumble at each other!

Keep topping up your Romantic Love Jar when you see your partner doing something one day that makes you smile. You can also add trinkets and keepsakes into your Romantic Love Jar, like a pebble you write on about your hiking date or that shell you found on your seaside sunset date. Even small photos of the moment.

The Romantic Love Jar that keeps on giving:

When you’ve had your Love Jar date, find a special space for your jar to sit where you both can see it every day. The kitchen bench? The bedroom dresser? Perhaps in the place where you keep your car keys?

On random days, close your eyes and it’ll be the lucky dip on love.

Take a photo of the message and text or DM your partner where it will deepen your connection as a couple by effortlessly making them smile.

Why the Romantic Love Jar works…

Memories trigger an amazing deep well of feelings for the ones we love, and this is a great way to tap into those feel-good emotions, reminding yourself why you love each other.  It doesn’t cost much to make a Romantic Love Jar, but I’m sure you’ll soon discover that its priceless for your love life.

And I’m all about feel-good emotions and romance because I believe everyone deserves to Escape to Happily Ever After (#Escape2HEA).  Don’t you agree?
